Keeping a fridge stocked with healthy snacks for kids can be a real lifesaver – especially for days where you just don’t feel like whipping up a healthy snack. Instead of being caught off guard, have a few snacks on hand to handle those after-school hunger pangs.
Healthy Snacks for Kids: Fruit and Cheese Kabobs
For a great (and healthy) kids snack, try a fruit and cheese kabob. The sweetness of the fruit and a few small cubes of cheese will entice any child to eat their fruits and veggies. Start by cutting up a few types of fruits for the kebabs. Our favorites are banana slices, strawberry wedges, melon cubes, and blueberries. Next, take quarter inch slices of cheese.
To make things fun for your little one, use small cookie cutters to create shapes out of the cheese. Add cheese and fruit pieces to individual wooden kabobs, alternating the fruit and cheese.
If you’re making them in advance, wrap in saran wrap and refrigerate. These kabobs will last well overnight – and possibly for a few days, depending on the types of fruit you use.
